Closing the opportunity gap.

At Dougherty Family College (DFC), opportunity is about more than just providing students a pathway to a degree. It’s about providing them a pathway to using it.

That’s why we started our Professional Internship Program.

In it, students have the opportunity to develop real-world, professional experience in paid internships at leading organizations throughout the Twin Cities – where they’ll start using their education to build a career that makes a difference.

Assessment: Students are matched with organizations based on their skills and interests along with the requirements and location of the internship.

Preparation: All students participating in the program complete a semester-long professional development course to prepare them for their internship.

Availability: During the school year, students will typically work one day per week, with more availability during January term and summer.

Support: Students and their supervisors will receive ongoing support from the director of the program and our career and academic success coach.

Compensation: Interns should be paid a minumum of $15 per hour.

Organizations of all shapes and sizes – large and small, corporations and non-profits – partner with us to offer students a diverse mix of industries and job experiences.

These organizations include:

In addition to preparing these students to become the sought-after professionals, your partnership with Dougherty Family College will allow you to:

  • Gain access to a pool of diverse, highly motivated students – your future workforce – much earlier than most other internship programs.
  • Provide your current employees with professional development opportunities, including supervision, guest speaking in classes and mentorship.
  • Further enhance your organization’s reputation for community involvement.
