Counselor/Life Skills Coach

As a first-generational college student, I recall the importance of having support not only through my peers and educators but through my Latinx/Chicano adviser. It was critical for me to have a professional who was able to support me in navigating social constructs of a university and provide me life coaching/encouragement when I was starting to have self-doubt about my ability to finish school. Through my previous employment experience, I have also observed the ramifications of individuals who may have not received support and/or treatment for their mental health early in the onset of their struggles. I do believe my services (as well as any counseling services at a university) have an opportunity to provide onset support and preventative care. I have a passion in supporting students succeed in all aspects of their lives and I believe Dougherty Family College is a wonderful step in integrating academics and holistic care.

I have multiple connections with the University of St. Thomas that contribute greatly to my interest in being a part of this community. I was a participant in a summer program that was hosted at the University of St. Thomas so I have a lot of fond memories of the campus growing up. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this school as well as a part of a program that fits my passion.
